Summary:Srini Koppulu has many years of experience in developing innovative products, driving global R&D initiatives, building large scale organizations from grounds up. He was involved in many strategic initiatives throughout his 21 years career at Microsoft, and he holds more than 20 global patents. He worked at Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond for 9 years as an R&D leader on developing Windows and Office.He moved to India in 1998 to set up Microsoft India Development Center (MSIDC). Over the next 12 years he evolved MSIDC from a start-up to Microsoft’s largest product development center outside of US with 1600 plus employees developing core products and technologies that impact millions of customers across the world. He built a strong brand for MSIDC as an organization that innovates and makes global impact and made MSIDC the primary destination for India’s top talent. He drove Microsoft’s global software development strategy partnering with leaders of Microsoft China and Israel development centers and many senior Microsoft executives.
After leaving Microsoft in October 2010, He started advising and investing in start-ups, and also played a key role in creating Hyderabad Angel Network and became the first President of Hyderabad Angel Network. His first angel investment was made in 2005 into Medplus (which became the India’s leading pharmacy chain). From the time he invested, MedPlus (medplusindia.com) has grown from zero to 1050 pharmacies across India.
He is currently the Founder & Executive Chairman of Veooz Labs (which was formerly SETU Software Systems) developing veooz.com. He is very passionate about building a strong R&D talent in India and started Mission R&D (missionrnd.com) an initiative to prepare CS/IT engineers for product development roles. He was also Chairman of International School of Hyderabad (www.ishyd.org) advisory board for eight years till end of 2013, and helped transform ISH into one of the top international schools in India.
