The Guardian Angel – 2nd Edition
TiE Hyderabad conducted 2nd edition of The Guardian Angel on 24 June 2017 which is received very well by the startup ecosystem. Over 125 startups applied to get the funding out of which 4 selected startups got the opportunity to pitch live on the stage. Investor Panel included Mr Mohit Shrivastav (Managing Director, NRI Startup India), He represented Mr Jay Patel(Founder, NRI Startup India). Along with him, Mr Kishore Ganji (CEO, Astir IT), Mr Venkat Vallabhaneni (General Partner, Parampara Capital) and Mr Rajeev Menon (Partner, Anthill Ventures) took part in the Investor Panel. This edition of the event had a Panel Discussion on “Venture Funding: Should you or Should you NOT?” where the interesting perspectives were seen between 2 investors and 2 investee startups. The Investor side of the Panel had Dr Ramesh Byrapaneni (Managing Director, Endiya Partners), Mr Sanjay Jesrani (Founder & CEO, Go North Ventures) and investee side of the panel was balanced by Mr Pavan Adipuram (Founder, ChitMonks) and Mr Prashanth Gowriraju (Co-Founder & CEO, Timla Foods). Mr Rakesh Bhatia (Managing Partner, Beyond Strategy) chaired the event as well as moderated the panel.
The 4 startups got the pitching opportunity includes GoLive Gaming Solutions Pvt Ltd, Cargo Exchange India Pvt Ltd, HUG Innovations and VoltusWave Technologies India pvt Ltd. Out of these startups HUG Innovations bagged the SERIES A funding of INR 33 Cr (USD 5 Million) for a valuation of INR 100 Cr. Cargo Exchange were offered INR 1.4 Cr which they did not accept due to differential opinion on valuations. Other 2 startups pitched and received a very positive support from the investors a they were asked to come back after few months when the startups will have more traction to show. This event was attended by 175 people from the ecosystem which includes startups, accelerators, incubators, venture capitalists and angels. The event has marked a record of first ever startup to get the valuation of INR 100 Cr in Hyderabad.
