1st Cohort Agri-Tech Startups

TiE is a non-profit organization devoted to entrepreneurs in all industries, at all stages, from incubation, throughout the entrepreneurial life cycle. With a global reach and a local focus, the heart of TiE efforts lies in its five foundational programs, – Mentoring, Networking, Education, Funding, and Incubation. TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) is a go-to network of 15000+ global entrepreneurs across 61+ cities in 14+ countries. 

Start-Up Nation Central (SNC) is a non-profit organization that helps tackle global challenges by connecting Israeli technologies with multinational corporations, governments, investors, as well as NGOs from around the world. Its chief mission is to promote technological innovation originating from Israel – to the world.

TiE Hyderabad, TiE Israel and Start-Up Nation Central (SNC) are launching a joint Mentorship program, spanning over a period of 2 years (will launch 3 cohorts of 8 months duration each) for innovation and technology partnership for start-ups, and the opportunity to penetrate the Indian market. 

The aim of this program is to achieve the full adaptation of technologies and collaborative business models that will form the basis of long term, sustainable collaboration between not only start-ups from both nations, but also their innovation and start-up ecosystems.

 The 1st Cohort for 12 Selected Startups [6 From India + 6 From Israel] Program will commence in October 2021.  

The focus sector for the First Cohort will be Innovations in Agritech. 6 Indian Startups in their growth stage and 6 from Israel will be shortlisted after a rigorous selection process. The duration of the Mentoring Program for each cohort is 6- 8 months. 2 or 3 Founder/ CXO level executives or key decision makers from each startup will participate in the program. 

During the course of the program, Startups will undergo multiple speaker sessions and workshops on sensitization to Indian/ Israeli culture, Business Culture, Perspectives on local market, consumer behavior and exposure to high growth sectors in both countries. Sessions on sharing success stories of Startups and their journeys will also be included. Mentoring will be a key element of this program and the knowledge sharing will focus on technology, creating opportunities, value proposition for Indian customers and success mantra to thrive in the Indian market.

Selected startups will also have the opportunity to participate in a one week on-field experience to get practical exposure to technology, processes and the ecosystem in the Agritech Sector.

The program will conclude with an event where each of the startups showcase for funding and/or partnership. TiE will be bringing together different business leaders, investors and startups on a single platform to create collaboration opportunities for the startups and their founders.

The selection for the 1st Cohort of this Mentoring Program will be from Innovative Startups in the Agri-Tech (Farm & Food) having big social and economic potential, such as

  1. Smart Farming (hydroponics, automated irrigation and smart farm equipment)
  2. Precision Agriculture & Farm Management offering
  3. Novel & Alternate Foods 
  4. Food Tech

 Participating startups are also required to complete the submission form describing the background of the Startup.

The deadline for the submission will be on September 12, 2021 at 11:59pm IST (GMT +5:30).

The program will conclude with an event where each of the startups showcase for funding and / or partnership. TiE will help bring together different business leaders and startups on a platform to create collaboration opportunities.

The main takeaway for the selected startups will be innovation and technology partnerships between Israel Startup Nation and the TiE Global network. The mentoring will assist in establishing a viable strategy to make the technology ready for market; and the knowledge sharing will focus on technology, creating opportunities, value proposition for customers and success mantra. Sessions will also incorporate sharing startup success stories and their journeys. 

The program will conclude with an event where each of the startups showcase for funding and / or partnership. TiE will help bring together different business leaders and startups on a platform to create collaboration opportunities.

In this Mentoring Program, only one/two member(s) should apply and will act as the representative for the Startup in question.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this Mentoring Program your Startup must:

  1. Product Requirement: Have a market ready product/service
  2. Financial criteria: Annual revenue of $150,000. However, we would encourage you to apply if the minimum eligibility criteria is met with.  
  3. Committed to sustainable agri practices  
  4. Startups with Traction – Revenue, clients (preferred)
  5. Business entity and/or clients in India
  6. Participation of at least 2 members is preferred preferably Founder/ CXO level or key decision makers. 
  7. Have a solution in one of the categories listed in “Who Can Apply“.

For the second phase, participants/applicants will be asked to submit an edited version of their slide deck from Round 1 and also a 90 second Demo Video demonstrating the functionalities of their product/solution.

Mentorship

Mentoring is part of the program for the selected startups.

Once you are selected, details will be shared.

The mentorship phase will last for a total of 6-8 months from October 2021.

Final Event

The announcement for the TOP 6 Startups will be made by 25th September 2021.

The Mentoring Program for the Selected Startups will be launched at the  TiE Sustainability Summit 2021 (TSS 2021) scheduled from October 4th -6th 2021! Stay tuned for further information.
